
Free Coffee For Everyone
Yesterday September 29 was the National Coffee Day in the United States, where free coffee was given away for everyone ordering food or any other services from restaurants or coffee shops across the States. And tomorrow Tuesday the 1st of October 2019 is the International Coffee Day.
Here are few of the shops that participated and offered free coffee for everyone: Le Pain Quotidien, Tim Hortons, Krispy Kreme, Hardee’s, Barnes & Noble, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Nutella Cafe, Applebee’s, Taco Bell, PJ’s Coffee, Godiva Café and many others! If the customers want, and can, they can order free coffee every hour even!
The International Coffee Organization took the first decision to celebrate the International Coffee Day and the first official date was on October 1st 2015. Even though the term International Coffee Day was used many times before in different occasions and in different countries like in China in 1997 and in Taiwan in 2009.
In the United States of America, the ”National Coffee Day” was mentioned publicly around 2005.
In Lebanon, the Lebanese people celebrate coffee every single morning, every gathering, in sad and happy times. Without coffee many say: “we just can’t start our day!”. Specially with all the madness around us in the country. Coffee started to be traded commercially since the 15th century believe it or not in Yemen! Coffee beans were first exported from Ethiopia.
In the 16th Century, people start drinking coffee (along with tea) throughout the Middle East in countries like Persia (Iran today) Turkey, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon.
